As a contractor our intention is to carry out ground works and haulage in accordance with current legislation and approved codes of practice, and to provide and maintain a safe healthy working environment for both our employees and others who may be affected by our works. [HASWA 1974; 2. 3.1]
In order to maintain safe systems of working, information, instruction, training and supervision will be provided as the need arises to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the works we undertake are without risk to the health and safety of personnel we employ. As an equal rights employer, we employ personnel based on experience and ability.
We are also responsible for the health and safety of other persons who may be affected by our work activities e.g. Contractors, Clients and the general public. We will endeavor to ensure their health and safety is without risk. Where possible our works will be segregated to ensure their safety.
We hereby set out the organisational duties and arrangements to implement this policy, and all employees must co-operate with it. Employees and sub contractors are encouraged to consult with the Management at any time regarding health and safety matters and to report defects. This policy statement will be held on site.
We have appointed Mr C.H-Evans AIIRSM, Health & Safety Adviser to the company to provide advice, guidance, information and instructions as necessary to me, the Managing Director, who is ultimately responsible to ensure safe working practices throughout the companys operations. Accidents will be reported in line with the RIDDOR Regulations 1995.
This policy will be reviewed regularly and amended as the need arises due to changes in working practices within the company or new Legislation. Where an amendment is necessary this will be added as an appendix until the next full review and re-issue, to ensure as far as practicable the full implementation throughout our activities.
